The Vero Wrong Fuel Exclusion
“Damage to the vehicle, engine, or fuel system caused by incorrect fuel.”
— Vero MotorPlan Policy Wording (exclusion added August 2016)
Vero sent a policy change summary to all policyholders in August 2016 notifying them of this exclusion. If your policy predates this change and you never received notification, you should contact Vero directly. For current policies, the exclusion applies.
What To Do Right Now
- 1Do not start the engine
This is the most important step. The fuel pump and injectors are not yet contaminated if the engine has not run. Starting the engine — even briefly — turns a minor problem into a major repair (see rate card) repair.
- 2Call Eek: 0808 280 6346
We come to you. We tow your vehicle to our certified workshop where the fuel is drained, the system flushed, and fresh fuel added. One call handles collection, the full workshop service, and vehicle return.
- 3Get your incident report
Vero will not reimburse the cost, but a written incident report is still valuable. It documents what happened, when, what work was done, and the full cost. Keep it with your vehicle records.
- 4Check your policy at renewal
AMI, State Insurance, and FMG all cover misfuel incidents. When your Vero policy comes up for renewal, compare — the premium difference is often modest but the coverage difference for wrong fuel is significant.
